This is a management and consulting position that requires elements of managing people, change management, strategic planning, manufacturing engineering, industrial and systems engineering, sales, technical writing, public speaking and customer service. The candidate will require strong leadership capabilities and grit to keep projects moving forward. This is appealing to high-performers because performance is very visible. This person will be expected to work directly with the owners and executives of manufacturing and supply chain companies to figure out the best strategic and tactical approach, diagnose problems, provide a clear and concise report that justifies their recommendations, and manage the implementation of changes to processes, supply chain, ERP and WMS systems, facility layouts, equipment and organizational structure. They will manage the projects and provide status reports and updates on a regular basis. We expect the candidate to grow and successfully manage a small staff of supply chain consultants and engineers within two years. This position will require cultivation of relationships with existing clients, and building new relationships through speaking engagements, networking and professional organization activities.
Candidate must have at least 8 years’ successful history of working with all levels of the organization and managing projects making positive changes to operations and systems in manufacturing and distribution. Experience with inventory management strategies and supply chain optimization is a plus. First-hand experience working with manufacturing operations, lean training and facilitation, and facility and equipment layout is required with strong project management experience in leading change. Distribution and logistics experience with warehouse design, material handling equipment specifications, and warehouse management systems is valuable. Strong written and oral communication skills and presentation skills are very important, given that there are status reports, project reports and presentations for every project. Occasional travel is required but most of our work is in the Puget Sound area. Strong systems aptitude and knowledge and experience with ERP systems is required. Candidate must be flexible to meet the needs of our clients and their available hours, and an entrepreneurial spirit is necessary to grow this business.
BS or Masters in manufacturing engineering or industrial and systems engineering. MBA, Six Sigma/Lean Black Belt and APICS Certifications are a plus. Candidate must be very adept with word, excel, and visio and creating project schedules and budgets.
